Do Lemon Laws cover my Used or Leased Car?

Once again the answer is "it depends". Each State has its own laws and so a lot depends on which State your car was bought or leased in.

Some states specifically include used and leased cars in their Lemon Laws. And some states have separate laws for used vehicles.  Unfortunately, some States only provide Lemon Law coverage for new cars.

And strange as it seems, in some states, not even the Attorney General can tell you if a Leased vehicle is covered. Because the law is phrased so vaguely that you will be referred to an Attorney for clarification of the law.

Each state has slightly different Lemon Laws  so use the list at the right to check the State Statutes for your particular State.

Are Motorcycles and Motor Homes covered?

Many States consider the drive train of Motor Homes like a car but exclude the part that is used for dwelling purposes.

For some strange reason motorcycles are not usually covered. But a few states do include them in their lemon law statutes.

Your State Lemon Law may not cover your vehicle because it is a used car, Motorcycle, Motor Home,  leased car, or a car used for business purposes but you are not necessarily completely out of luck. You still have other options like the Uniform Commercial Code  or the Federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (if you were given a written warranty). Please consult with a lawyer that specializes in this area.
